Hello, I am Ines
Project coordinator. Parent. Expat residing in Lisbon, Portugal.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually evolved into a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Began
Moving to Portugal wasn’t in the plan we had for the long term. Like many international moves, it started as a job opportunity and quickly grew into something far larger.
The early months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines settled in. We found places that worked for us, met other families, and began building something that felt stable.
Why I Created ValleyConnectCatalog
Most information online was either corporate-level relocation advice or superficial tourism material. What was missing was an honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site exists to close that gap — practical guidance based on real life in Portugal.
What This Site Does (And Does Not)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Portugal
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated when something truly changes
This site isn't:
- A resource for tourism authorities
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- An ordinary travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Portugal continues, and the learning journey goes on. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Lisbon or anywhere in Portugal, please feel free to contact me.
Best regards,
Ines
